One morning,
in order.
09:40Everyone is dressed before the bride is. There's a long stretch of the morning where six people fuss over each other in front of the same mirror, fixing hair that was already fine, and nobody is thinking about a camera yet.
11:15Makeup, from the other side of the room. I shoot past shoulders and through doorways more than people expect — it keeps a little distance in the frame, and distance is most of what makes something look unposed.
12:50Then the staircase, and the first moment she is properly alone on it. She looked back once, for about a second. That's the frame.
Nobody asked me for a single one of those frames. They're the ones that got printed.
By two the rooms are empty — a chair pushed back from the mirror, a bouquet somebody left on the windowsill, the light already moved on. That's usually the last of the morning, before everything moves outside.
